Today is Saturday June 27, 2009 ... 50 years ago on June 10, 1959 my parents Glen Ian Schirmer and Christina Marion Schulz were married.

I think when we get married and have children we never really think of what might happen or evolve or how many lives we might affect or influence.  I got thinking about this today as I joined in celebration with about 60 other people to share my parent’s 50th wedding anniversary.  I listened to stories from people both young and old as they shared how a friendship with my parents at some point in time has changed their life.

As we sat down at the dinner table an old friend of my parents whom we hadn't seen for over 20 years lent over to me and said "Every time I think of you the hymn 'Just Cling‘'comes to mind and I have a better day."  She told me that one day when everything in her life seemed to be going wrong and she felt so hopeless I walked into her home whistling 'Just Cling' and she suddenly felt the strength to continue.  She then said"I have never told you the story because you probably had no idea what was going on but I just wanted to say thank you!"  Tears welled up in my eyes.

The words 'Just Cling' (Hymns Old and New):

When pained is thine heart, and the clouds hang low, When weary thy faltering feet, When tear-dimmed thine eyes as the seed you sow, And all thou canst see is defeat,

CHORUS: Just cling to the hand of God's dear Son No matter where He leads, And mark the path till the journey's done, With pure and Christ-like deeds.

My parents have 7 children and so far 18 grandchildren, if each of them has 2.5 children each then it equals 45 great-grandchildren.  I don't know the figures of how many people the average person influences in a year or a lifetime.  If it was only 5,000 people in a lifetime (100 per year) then my parents have directly and indirectly influenced 360,000 people.

It makes us start to realise the power of one person ... imagine our attitude and walk through life affecting 360,000 people in just 3 generations.  What sort of life are you living?   What do people see when they look on your life?  What do they hear you say?

Every once in a while something amazing happens!

After thinking about the figures above I started to ask  "I wonder how many people I have and will touch in my lifetime?"  In 2005 The Secret happened ... and it has touched a few people around the world.  My research suggests over 6,000,000 books and 2,500,000 DVD's were sold.  Every book was read by at least 2 people, every DVD was watched or copied by at least 10 people.  The Secret was shown in at least three countries on national TV with over 5,000,000 viewers.

That's at least 42 million people have been influenced by The Secret DVD ... no wonder I get so many emails saying "Thank You!"

I was selected to be on The Secret for a number of reasons; some of which was obvious (my rags to riches story), some of which will unfold over the next 10-20 years.  A couple of people close to me became jealous and angry at my success and being chosen to be on The Secret, and they influenced and affected other people negatively.  The bible tells us that if any man is jealous of or hates his brother he is a murderer.  Pretty serious stuff.

Our life will be either an example or a warning!

Back to my story!  Maybe my parents who came together and wed 50 years ago, through their lives, example and teachings have affected far more people on this planet than even they know.

Recently I noticed a comment come up on my MySpace that I felt I had to answer.  So often people blame God for what is going wrong in their lives, for hardship or tragic events or even death.   This lady was doing the same thing ... she sure has had some awlful stuff go on with her only son passing on then her mother a short time later.  People then say "God, why are you doing this to me?" 

Following is my brief answer with some additions ... maybe it will help someone you love to:

Thank you for your message and touching videos.  My heart and prayers go out to you.

My faith is not in a church either but rather in a higher power I choose to call God.  I have taught many people around the world about the higher power and about faith, abundance, prosperity, health etc.  I rarely comment on what people write on FaceBook and MySpace but for some reason opened my MySpace exactly at the time you made your comment.

Practically everyone in the world believes in a power higher than themselves - a few don't know what to believe so they try to convince themselves that the world just happened and everything is some big coincidence ... they have more questions than answers.

The greatest confusion I have found in the world today is who or what is this higher power and who or which spiritual powers control this world we live in - hence most people are ruled by fear that stems from the lack of knowledge rather than faith through understanding.  (The good book says "My people perish because of the lack of knowledge." and "With all your strength and might get wisdom because it is the principle thing; more precious then ruby and gold") They then blame God or the higher creative power for everything that goes wrong rather than realising that there is also a higher destructive power.

If God or the higher creative power is love and life and creation how then could He/It give hate, death and destruction?  If you have a child or children of which you co-created you will understand better what I'm saying ... you love them regardless and would never do anything to hurt them but rather protect them in every way possible.  Why would God or the higher creative power who created us then seek to cause us pain and suffering ...especially since we were created in His image?  It just doesn't make sense!

I encourage people to think about the concept that there is an opposite force in existence (call it satan, devil or simply a higher destructive force, it doesn't really matter).  Throughout the entire universe everything has an opposite - on has off, life has death, love has hate, yes has no, peace has war, light has darkness, faith has fear and so on.  It is no different in the spirit realm.  God's opposite is satan ... the bible tells us that God created him in all magnificence and beauty ... not some two horned red beast!  (Ezek 28)

In short, don't blame God or the higher creative power for bad stuff happening - rather learn who God really is and who His enemy is - not from religious beliefs and thinking but from real spiritual understanding and revelation.

P.S.  I believe the very best source of learning is God’s Word – the bible – again, not as a religious book but as a source of spiritual impartation.  Too many religious people have taken the bible and made a mockery of it through their false teachings and beliefs.  Get yourself a Message Bible or Amplified version ... it is much easier to read.

I haven't updated my blog for some time. I thought it was time to share some insights with what's happening with my life, my family and our businesses ... and maybe my thoughts!!  What a concept!

This morning I installed the new Dragon NaturallySpeaking 10.0 voice recognition software. So instead of typing this blog I am speaking it directly into my computer. I'm hoping that this will speed up the process of writing blogs, reports and other information and make it much more time efficient and easier to keep my blog up to date.

So far am extremely impressed by the new version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking. I have used the previous versions and found it somewhat frustrating with the numerous errors in spelling and grammar mistakes that the software made. However this new version has typed out this blog in Word with practically no mistakes at all. The amazing thing is the faster I speak the faster it types.

I believe that practically anyone could use this version of Dragon naturally speaking and get enormous benefit from it. It is worth every cent.  Here is the URL for the new software.

Don't worry; I'm not praising the software because I make something from everyone who buys it. Nuance (the software company) has no online affiliate program and I get nothing from each sale; I just think it's a great program.  Enjoy.
